American investment company Sixth Street may become an investor in Manchester United.

According to The Telegraph, the American firm is interested in a minority investment in the English club. The New York Investment Company has accepted an invitation to analyze the details of United`s financial performance, along with a number of other stakeholders.

Sixth Street was involved in the refinancing of Real Madrid and Barcelona. Last May, Sixth Street struck a EUR360m deal with Real Madrid president Florentino Perez for 20 years to manage the business at the refurbished Santiago Bernabeu stadium.

Sixth Street helped Barcelona use one of its financial levers to raise a total of EUR700m through the sale of future revenue shares. The American company now owns 25% of Barcelona`s television rights for the next 25 years.

Sixth Street has denied that it is interested in buying Manchester United.
